The Fast and the Furious

That's right folks! I am the proud owner of a bike! Yay! Took it out for a spin today and I am lovin it! Which leads to me this... why do we quit riding bikes when we grow up? Are we just to cool? too sophisticated?

Because riding a bike is so much fun! waaaayyyy better than walking and soooo much faster! And I know it's a workout because the 5 minute bike ride I just took was burning my quads .23 seconds into the ride. So i probably won't be able to walk tomorrow. hmmm. maybe that's why we quit riding bikes.

Ok- becca bouldin and katie coates (i know you're married but I always think coates!) Remember our bike gang? That was so much fun! Actually, I wish I could ride around BG, so much more familiar.

I'm out. GO RIDE A BIKE!!!

Tribute to the PB and honey sandwich... I love you.

Today I suddenly craved a pb and honey sandwich. On wheat, of course. The sandwich that got me through all my school years. We did have turkey sometimes. I miss turkey.

Back to PB and honey. It is so sticky and sweet and yummy. I just love it. Thank you mom and dad for fixing all my lunches. And a special thanks to mom for all the notes you stuck in there too. I did love those. You're the best.

In other news, we finally went to the beach. Yes, the summer is almost over and we have only been once to the beach. So disappointing. Anyways, it was nice. True liked it till daddy let a wave splash him in the face.

I made a little sun shelter for him. And in that last picture you can see his little tuft of hair right on top. We usually do it up in a little mohawk!

And last night was another fun time at karaoke. I'm not sure who snapped these, but here's the
proof that I have no pride!

Ok, done with my sandwich. I better go! Ciao!

Today's Happenings

Well, it is only 1:30 and I have gotten quite a lot done! Why is it that I am either super productive or super lazy?? Today is full of things I haven't done before so I thought I'd blog about it!
Well, I guess most importantly, today is the first day of Lent. And I have decided to observe it this year. I don't think that there is anything wrong with observing some of the holidays, rituals of the liturgical calendar. In fact, I think many of the events have great meaning and can really enhance your spiritual life. So, this is the first year that I will be celebrating Lent. As sacrifice is a large element to Lent, I have decided to give up cheese. This is HUGE!! I love cheese very much. All kinds. Brie, cheddar, gouda, smoked gouda...mmm. So I thought this would be a great thing for me to sacrifice over the net 40 days. I am also reading a book over this time called Power and Passion. It is about the power of Jesus' resurrection to transform lives. Should be really interesting. It has a prayer and questions for each chapter. And it was written to be read during Lent, the time leading up to Easter. Anyways, I hope I have the will power to do this because I think it will be a great thing.

Ok, so next up for the morning was homemade granola bars. I love granola bars but they are expensive and not necessarily that good for you. So I made some this morning and LOVE the result! They are chewy and sweet but also have lots of good for you stuff in them too. Like almonds, flax seed, lots of oats, and of course dark chocolate! Next batch I'm going to try craisins. I'm so crazy!!And I am starting to make True's baby food. It is super easy and I like it because it has nothing in it but the food itself! I like it also because i can leave the peels on some of the food for extra fiber and nutrients, that's why the applesauce is pink!He doesn't really like the apples but he's doing ok with the pumpkin.

And finally I didn't do this this morning but thought I'd show you the results. I bought some of those wall words at, the near and dear to my heart, hobby lobby in BG with lauren. I am happy how this turned out. And if it's crooked don't tell me because I'm too lazy to measure so I just eye ball it!

Ok- have to go... baby is cranky (teeth plus needles= not good) and laundry on the line! love you all!

Happy Valentine's!

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a lovely valentine's!

Alan and I hosted a v-day party for all the young married couples at church. Alan fixed penne rustica (my favorite meal at macaroni grill) and I made some yummy foccacia rolls with caramelized onions and rosemary....mmmmm...i want to eat them all over again!!!

I wish i had thought to take a few pictures of the table setting because it was really pretty... we ate outside under the fairy lights with candles and red gerber daisies! And I made place cards using a new scrapbooking technique called quilling. It is pretty cool!
Anyway we played lots of fun games all having to do with love... here's a couple pictures!

We were playing a game where couples have to pass a wrapped starburst to their partner who then has to unwrap it only using their tongue! We also played "Honey do you love me?' and the newlywed game... so much fun!!!

And this is True and his llittle friend Ava! They are about 3 months apart. And yes, I made everyone wear red hearts just like in the movie Julie and Julia. Why not!?

Here's True and Ava again... they conked out on the way to watch their daddies play football!

Nic Tyers is one of our good friends that played gridiron with Alan this year. They did well, but I wasn't able to go to many of the games because they were late...bummer!
Here's a random picture of what true is constantly doing... he's better at downward dog than me!Here he is eating a "rusk". It's like a hard craker/cookie but not sweet. It grosses me out but he loves it! I love that middle picture! And we've just started feeding him solids, well, mashed up solids!
And finally... True had his 6 month check up and weigh in. He's just over 18 pounds and cuter than ever!
Well, this has been a pretty lengthy post, but just thought i'd share what we've been up to! Love to you all!

Firsts

Our little True is certainly getting bigger. I can't believe it but next week he'll be 6 months old!! It goes so fast! So I think I need to try and post a bit more frequently to keep the fam up to date! This week we've had 3 "firsts" that I thought I'd share with you all.
This week I converted his pram to the upright position. So when we walked to the shops he was able to really sit up and look around for the first time! I have to say he really did look like a big boy. And in his little polo and cargos he would fit right in on the rugby field!

For a while now True has been eyeing our glass or cup and trying to get it every time we time we take a drink and he has just recently been making me feel very guilty every time i go to eat something. So a couple days ago i was cutting up some apples for lunch and let him gnaw on the core. He seemed to like that so I gave him an apple slice. So these are his "first food" pictures. I'm not quite ready for him to start solids yet, seems like that moves him into the next category away from "my little baby", not that he's been little since about 2 months! But anyway, we'll see how it goes!

And finally, True fell off the bed for the first time. I was sleeping on one side of the bed and he was playing in the middle with pillows on the other side. I guess he wriggled to the top of the bed and fell off head first, pinning himself upside down between the headboard and the wall. I heard him, jumped up and ran to the other side of the bed. I was confused because I didn't see him, then I saw his little feet poking out the top of the mattress! poor thing! So I was trying to pull him off his head by his feet and calling for alan to come help (good thing he was home!). Once we got him pulled free we checked him out and he was fine. Just a nice scratch on his head that was gone by the next day.
I figure this is just the first of many scratches. And I have convinced myself this isn't a reflection of my parenting because all babies fall off the bed at somepoint, right?!?
Poor thing! I just keep seeing his little feet poking out!
That's it for now! Ciao!
